    Each day I talk to people about how they want their lives to be. I help them make better choices with their money to make that a reality.

    I have a very strong desire to help people; to make the complex simple; and to solve problems. It’s what I truly enjoy doing, and also what I’m good at, so for 28 years now I’ve applied my early civil engineering skills to financial knowledge.

    Having moved to the financial advice profession in the mid 80’s, I founded and grew a boutique financial advice firm, Accumulus Ltd. It was one of Adelaide’s most respected and successful advisory firms – after several acquisitions is now part of the ASX listed company, Crowe Horwath. Along the way, it was encouraging to be voted Australian Financial Planner of the Year by my peers some years ago.

    After flirting with early retirement lasting just three years, I started Astute Investing (now Wotherspoon Wealth) with my son, Simon. Together, we’re focused on providing the highest level of independent advice to the Adelaide community.

    When not working on the business, I enjoy adventurous travel – like walking the Inca trail, tramping in Southern NZ, bike riding through Lithuania and touring Iran. And when I’m relaxing, you’ll likely find me listening to a wide variety of music or exploring a bit of my Scottish heritage, kilts included. I also enjoy voluntary community work, often through my Rotary involvement and walking with man’s best friend.

      I help clients achieve their goals, by developing strategies and structures that inform intelligent investment decisions.

      Our rigorous process and detailed research ensures everything happens for a reason… but building close relationships with clients, is what gives me the most satisfaction.  Ultimately, I provide greater certainty to clients.  Certainty that they will achieve the things they want and focus on what’s important to them. Being able to offer individual attention to each client so their needs are met fuels my energy, and underscores the technical framework of financial advice.

      My career started in corporate sales and marketing but a strong desire to work in a people-oriented profession led me to financial planning.  After a number of years building my new career in Melbourne, I returned to Adelaide to establish Astute Investing (now Wotherspoon Wealth) with my father, John.

      Family is important to me, and with a beautiful wife and young family, life is pretty busy.  I love sport and have been lucky enough to be a spectator at the Cricket World Cup in the Caribbean, and I am an Adelaide Crows supporter as a season ticket holder.

        Analysing options to find suitable ways of achieving desired client outcomes is mutually satisfying. My strong client-first philosophy has attracted a rapidly growing group of private clients as we work together on strategies and portfolios to meet their needs.

        Over 13 years as a chartered accountant and financial planner brings well founded knowledge about investment matters, self managed super, retirement, aged care/estates and non-for profit portfolio advice. In doing this, it’s great to be in a truly independent investment advice team covering direct equities, managed funds, superannuation and risk management.

        While I love my work, I’m mindful of the critical role within our community as Australians adapt to this Asian Century and individuals manage their wealth over the years. In promoting ethics and professionalism among my peers, I’m an active member of several professional groups – SMSF Association, Institute of Chartered Accountants and a Board role with the Financial Planning Association’s South Australian Local Chapter.

        Apart from work and the satisfaction it brings, I enjoy renovating houses with my partner and for down time we are just discovering the joys of camping with our six year old son.

          I have a passion for developing solutions for clients.  My previous experience in business management, client management, quality assessing and aged care has provided ample opportunity for me to do that.  Listening to clients’ is key and I’ve engaged with many people in diverse environments when working for large corporates, start-up, small business and the not-for-profit sector.  I also enjoy working with numbers so financial services was an obvious choice for me – it has everything!

          It’s great to be part of the Wotherspoon Wealth team and working with clients to develop outcomes tailored to their individual circumstances. Give me a challenge and I will work with you to find the best resolution.

          Working and volunteering in the not-for-profit and events management sector taught me to be resourceful, stay calm and to steadily work through most issues. I’m an active member of the South Australian Road Runners club (board member and race director at times) and volunteered at the Feast Festival before taking on the role of General Manager there for a number of years

          I was born in the UK, then travelled extensively, trekking the Overland Track, the Himalayas, Kilimanjaro and Mount Toubkal, before settling in Adelaide. I then drove all the way round Australia. I’m lucky enough to have travelled to every State and worked in many parts of Australia.

          I enjoy the Arts and love to paint. I am a keen supporter of Port Power and often wear the silver, teal and black and white!

          I live happily with my partner and our two cats.

            My priority is to get a broad understanding of each client’s financial position and objectives, thereby allowing me to tailor a well-planned solution to deliver the best outcomes for clients. I then ensure strategies are presented in a way that is logical and easy to understand, so our clients can be certain about the path forward.

            I’m really motivated by helping people achieve positive results. I understand that every client’s financial situation is different, there’s no one size fits all solution. This is why I believe a tailored investment approach is important in providing in the best possible outcome for clients.

            I’ve been interested in investing since I was a youngster and started my career in the banking industry following the completion of my degree. After taking a 12 month working holiday in Europe, I made the move into financial advice and haven’t looked back.

            I’m a big sports fan and over the years have spent a lot of time on the football field, golf course and tennis court. As a new dad, I love spending time with my family. And if I get an opportunity to sneak in a round of golf, I’m a happy man.

              As the Operations Manager, I am the link between the Wotherspoon Wealth team and our clients. Every day is a bit different from the last, and I really like that. There are always changing priorities, but I’m driven by ensuring our clients’ needs come first. I work with the team to ensure we maintain and improve our skills, have a solid understanding of our systems and processes and are always client focused.

              I assist in implementing strategies our advisers have devised, helping to ensure a smooth transition and managing the ongoing relationship/service. I also assist clients with any questions they have and help develop strategies to improve the service we deliver.

              I’m fascinated by human nature, and love hearing the stories and journeys clients readily share with us.  I’ve been working in client services for many years, and I spent almost 10 years in the Army Reserve. That’s probably where I get my “get on with it” attitude and adaptability.

              As a country girl, I’ve dabbled with line dancing and love being outdoors, especially in the garden. I enjoy a good read, usually an inspirational autobiography or a good thriller.  As a Power supporter, I enjoy the office banter when it comes to footy talk/tipping. Like most people, I also enjoy travelling, whether it is the regular family road trip to the outback “lake house” or discovering somewhere new. When I go home at the end of the day I enjoy nothing more than sitting around the dinner table with my family… that’s when the best stories are shared and there’s plenty of laughs (and cuddles) to go round.

                I am often the first person that clients speak to when they call or visit, and with Stacey, I point them in the right direction to answer any questions they may have. I prepare the paperwork and reporting to implement our clients’ financial plans and monitor their investments.

                Whatever I’m doing, it always revolves around trying to produce the best outcomes for our clients and their Ongoing Care.

                I get a kick out of helping people, so I’ve built my career around customer service, working most recently for the Commonwealth Bank for over 8 years as a Customer Service Specialist and occasional Assistant Branch Manager.

                I’m calm and easy-going, and particularly enjoy the communication side of my role. I strongly believe that a helpful attitude gets you further than a forceful one. I find this to be so when at work and also in my role as Youth Settlement Worker in the Vietnamese Community.

                I also have a creative streak, and enjoy landscape photography and painting. On my weekends, I love creating chocolate and baby clothing bouquets and gift boxes, which I sell on my website – ArtsyBlooms.com.au.

                  I enjoy interacting with clients and the many different situations I come across in my daily work – it’s always stimulating and I thrive on the challenges. My role is to successfully implement clients’ strategies and plans, ensuring they feel relaxed and comfortable when dealing with me.  Often this involves seeking more efficient ways of doing things – sometimes it’s as simple as a phone call to explain something or clarify a small point.

                  People compliment me on my interpersonal skills and for my part, I really enjoy working with a wide variety of people.  Colleagues characterise me as friendly, co-operative, systems-oriented, careful and a multi-tasker.  Being keen to please, I use my 10 years of financial services experience to ‘go the extra mile’ in helping people.

                  I love sport – when it comes to football, I’m a big Crows fan and I’m also keen on the cricket.  I enjoy camping and fishing, so it’s likely my young daughter will experience plenty of that too!  She already loves our visits to the park and playground – maybe she’s becoming an outdoor girl like her mum?

                    I meet with our advisers to help build a picture in my mind about the client’s circumstances – together we pave the road from where they are now to where they want to go. My job is to convert this ‘road to financial freedom’ into strategies and advice documents.

                    It’s up to me to make sure we explain things in a way that makes sense, so it’s easy for our clients to comprehend and take clear action. I enjoy combining problem solving with writing to create our advice documents, and there’s nothing like the feeling when you see clients achieving their goals over time.

                    Although I started my career as a translator and can speak fluent French and Dutch, I’ve worked in banking and financial planning in Australia for over 15 years. I was born in Belgium and moved to Australia when I met my husband, and now love living near the beach.

                    I love exercise – especially running and bushwalking. But you will also regularly find me on the soccer field, football field, the pool or the beach with my husband and three boys. We all love the great outdoors and spend much of our holidays camping and toasting marshmallows by the campfire.

                      I look after the data and details that come with administering Self-Managed Super Funds (SMSF). I also make sure our portfolio valuations are updated and accurate, so clients can understand how their investments are tracking..

                      I have a friendly, caring nature and love having a laugh. I’m also a hard worker and have a strong attention to detail.

                      I’ve got many years’ experience working in the client services side of the business, and helping to implement financial plans.

                      I love spending time with family and friends, and with two boys I’m kept pretty busy. I play korfball, which is a cross between netball and basketball, and am an Adelaide Crows fan. My five year old however, is a determined Essendon supporter.

                        I love having a good chat with clients and helping them achieve the outcomes they seek. Over 15 years, I’ve worked in the administrative side of financial planning and also in technical, behind the scenes para-planning support.

                        Because I thrive on client contact, I do plenty of this while also supporting our financial planners on the strategic and investment design side. It’s a good blend that stretches my intellectual boundaries while nurturing my natural flair for people contact. I help to create a strategic and investment path for clients and then ensure its successful implementation.

                        Colleagues say I like attention to detail (dotting i’s and crossing t’s) and I‘m happiest understanding the strategy and updating our systems to generally make life easy for our clients. You may have noticed I do enjoy working in the office environment with our harmonious team as we help each other to meet client needs.

                        Away from work it’s the beach, water skiing, netball, walking and most outdoor activities. My husband and our three kids are a big part of my life and they do make me laugh! Also, spending time with my friends – long afternoon lunches with all the kids in tow are the best.
